What is endurance?
Endurance is the ability to withstand or persist through difficult conditions over an extended period of time. It requires both physical stamina and mental fortitude.
Some key aspects of endurance include:
- Cardiovascular endurance - the ability of the heart and lungs to supply oxygen to muscles during sustained activity. This allows you to continue exercising without getting exhausted.
- Muscular endurance - the ability of muscles to repeat contractions over a period of time without getting fatigued. This prevents your muscles from burning out too quickly.
- Mental endurance - the drive and focus to push through physical discomfort to achieve your goals. This allows you to override feelings of tiredness or pain.
- Gradually increase the length and intensity of your workouts over time to improve cardiovascular and muscular endurance.
- Incorporate strength training to build larger, more fatigue-resistant muscles.
- Set small achievable goals each week to stay motivated and develop mental endurance over the long term.
